Archie Winston Dudley, Sr., 77, Clarksville, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, in Clarksville, TN.
Archie, the son of the late Dorothy Mitcham and Archie Davis Dudley, was born on September 10, 1947, in Trenton, KY.
Archie was a member of Queen Ann Baptist Church where he was a part of the choir.
Archie Winston Dudley served honorably in the U.S. Navy, dedicating 18 years of service to his country. Beginning his military career in 1966, he ultimately achieved the rank of AZ1 (E6), serving as an Aviation Maintenance Administration man as well as a Navy Recruiter. Archie's distinguished service included assignments of four tours in Vietnam, NAS Patuxent River, MD and finally, aboard the USS America (CV-66) at Naval Station Norfolk, VA. His commitment to excellence earned him numerous awards and decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 2 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Navy Expeditionary Medal, among others. Archie's honorable service reflects his dedication to his country, leaving a legacy of integrity, skill, and commitment to the mission.
Archie enjoyed older model cars and working on them, yard work, watching TV, and going to Home Depot. He was active in 4H and assisted in implementing the 1st Black Student Union at Hopkinsville Community College.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Dudley Pepper and Martha Dudley.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Velma Dudley; children, Tracy (Bonita) Peterson, Daniel Lamont (Junko) Peterson, Kellyron "Renee" Peterson, Shelia (Leonardo) Gomez, Terrance (Marsha) Cheatham, Archie (Katherine) Dudley, Jr., Nikya Dudley, Corey Dudley, and Angela Dudley; 24 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; devoted niece, Lisa Dudley; 5 nephews; a host of great nieces and great nephews.
