With measured grace and quiet strength, Avery Arzella “Kitty” Radford’s long, full life came to a peaceful close on July 17, 2026. Born on June 6, 1930, Avery’s ninety-six years were defined by devotion—to family, to community, to craft, and to the values she held dear. Known to loved ones and friends alike as “Kitty,” she wore her nickname as a badge of warmth and approachability, its gentle cadence reflecting the kindness she showed to all who crossed her path.

A pillar in her family, Kitty’s steadfast love leaves a legacy that echoes through generations. She is mourned and cherished by her children: Anna B. Redd, Larry (Thomasita) Palmer, Sr., Elma (John) Palmer Blackwell, and Anthony (Mae) Anderson. Each carries forward the lessons of resilience and compassion instilled by their remarkable mother. A brother/devoted caretaker, Sheridan Hollowell, whose abiding sibling love was matched only by the laughter and support they shared. Her circle of kin extends further to beloved relatives, including cousin Noami Jiles and brother-in-law Ivan Boyd, Sr. Kitty is fondly remembered by devoted caretakers Maria Ford, Jennie Mayes, and Gregory Bell. The hearts of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews are enriched by her memory, her gentle encouragement echoing in their lives.

While the sorrows of loss gather, so too does the comforting knowledge that Kitty now joins those who journeyed before her in peace. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Richard Palmer; by Ardenia Palmer, her beloved daughter; by her mother, Lula Bell Gude Hollowell, and her fathers, Lexie Ford, Sr., and Sherdian Hollowell, Sr. and by her brothers, Charles Ford, Lacy Ford, Lexie Ford, Jr., Thurman Ford, and sisters Lorinza (Drut) Boyd, and Morris Ardenia Hollowell.

Kitty’s industrious spirit shone brightly through her career, much of which was spent in dedicated service at Thomas Industries. Her exceptional work ethic and unwavering diligence did not go unnoticed, as she was honored numerous times as Employee of the Month—a testament to her professionalism, attention to detail, and loyalty to her colleagues and employers.

To those blessed to call her friend or family, Kitty displayed a zest for life’s simple pleasures. Her delight could be found in the kitchen, where the aroma of home-baked treats became synonymous with gatherings and celebrations. She etched her presence into each beautifully sewn garment and knitted keepsake—proof of her patient artistry and loving hands. Her joy radiated on the golf course and sprung forth in every graceful dance step. Known for her impeccable style, Kitty had a penchant for donning elegantly matched hats and decorating her house with a keen eye for interior design, creating a welcome and delightful atmosphere for all who entered her home.

Perhaps most profoundly, Avery “Kitty” Radford’s heart found special purpose in service to her faith community. As a dedicated member of Cave Spring Missionary Baptist Church, she lived her calling in myriad ways: as an Usher, in the melodious harmonies of the choir, with the keen organization of a Secretary, the nurturing presence on the Culinary Committee.. Through these roles, she impacted lives, shaped spirits, and fostered a sense of belonging that endures in her absence.

Family, friends, and all who valued Avery “Kitty” Radford are invited to honor her life and legacy. Visitation will be held at Gamble Funeral Home, 1311 S Liberty St., Hopkinsville, KY, on July 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at the same location beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will then take place at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church, 2697 Rocky Ridge Road, Cadiz, KY.

Through the tapestry of her days, Kitty wove patience, wisdom, and an enduring love that will outlast the sorrow of parting. May her story inspire, her memory sustain, and her legacy continue, as we remember a life well-lived and dearly missed.
