Benita Jo Leavelle Bell, originally from Woodlawn, Tennessee and long-time resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, was a beloved mother, mentor, ordained elder, and friend to many. She passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, creativity, and service to her community.

Mrs. Bell graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1972, and later earned her business certification from Clark Business College, where she studied secretarial and office procedures. She also trained to be a teacher's assistant at IUPUI. Her professional and personal life reflected her deep passion for working with children, and she touched countless young lives through her kindness, patience, and God-given calling.

Benita was a dedicated servant of the Lord and proudly served as an ordained elder in the church. She was also the co-founder of Abundance of Faith Ministries and the assistant director of The Abundance Christian Drama Ministry, where she poured her heart into faith-based productions that uplifted and inspired.

One of her most notable performances was as "The Woman at the Well" in the 1992 production The Book of Life at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She later played many memorable roles, including "Foxie," "Rocks Ann," "Sister Iodine," "Faith Kingston DRight," "Mrs. Jezebel Devil," and "Recordkeeper." Her God-given talent for storytelling and character work brought joy, healing, and inspiration to all who watched her.

Benita loved directing and singing in church choirs, writing Christian plays, reading the Word, and baking sweet treats for family and friends. She also enjoyed classical music, and was known for her warm spirit, infectious laugh, and wise, gentle advice.

Above all, Benita was deeply loved by everyone who knew her. Her strength, grace, and unwavering faith made her a pillar in her family, church, and community. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and truly loved — especially children, who gravitated to her nurturing and joyful presence.

She will be deeply missed, but her love, legacy, and light will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
