Obituary

Betty Mae Tandy Humphries, 92, died Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the home of her daughter.

A native of Christian County, she was born December 7, 1929, daughter of the late Eather Mae McFadden and Jerry Oliver Tandy.

Mask are required to attend the funeral service.

Betty was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, she served in many capacities: member of the Young Matrons, the Busy Bees, the Pastor's Aide, Mission Circle, Deaconess, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Sunday School Teacher for the Beginners and Assistant Sunday School Teacher for Adult 4 Class. She was past president of the Adult Choir. In First District, she served for a short time as Treasurer of Mission Circle #3.

For several years, Betty was a Caregiver for the A.W. Watts Senior Citizen's Daycare.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Humphries, two sons, James "Pee Wee" Humphries, Phillip Humphries, one grandson, Shannon Sowell, two sisters, Margaret Hicks, Flora Hampton and one brother, Oliver Tandy.

She is survived by, eight daughters, Annie L. Mayfield, Clara Humphries, Betty (Marshall) Gray, Louella Duncan, Regina (Larry) Arnold, Anita (James) Oldham, Karen Malone, and Cheryl Morris, two sons, Clarence Humphries, Bryant Maurice (Cherhonda) Humphries, 31 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
