Byron Eugene Copeland Sr., 56, originally of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and a resident of Killeen, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Born on December 29, 1969, in Princeton, Kentucky, Byron devoted more than 23 years of honorable service to the United States Army in aviation. Throughout his life, he inspired those around him with his kindness, patience, strength, and unwavering love for family and friends.

Outside of his military career, Byron found joy in fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending cherished time with his family, friends, and beloved grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, wisdom, and devotion that will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Deborah Copeland; his children, Marco (Anita), Jose (Krista), and Byron Copeland II; his mother, Patricia (Anthony) Norman; his sisters, Rhea Dardy, Carrie Caples, Shannon (James) McNary-Tapp, Tavia Norman and Dena Copeland; brother, Tony (Angela) Copeland; and his treasured grandchildren: Swangelee, Meilany, Damian, Daisy, Isabella, Braxton, Kason, Josorah, Zenaya, Daniela, and Kallie.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his nieces: Jasmine Walton, Kia Brewer, Jalea Dillard, Shakiera Farmer, Kendra Farmer, Alexandra Farmer, Isley Maglalang, Auytm Maglalang, Gabrielle Copeland and Kiana Riley; and his nephews: Malcolm Kendrick, Martel Dillard, Juwuan Dillard, Ocean Maglalang, Nijel Maglalang, Mason Copeland, and Mario McNary.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mahlon Copeland.

Byron's memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his compassion, humor, wisdom, and steadfast love.
