Mother Cora Agnes Thompson was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, on February 7, 1931, to the late Lawrence S. and Geneva D. Pendleton. Raised in a Christian home, she professed her belief in Jesus Christ early on and joined Moore's Baptist Church, where she remained a member for more than 75 years. She was the Treasurer of the Women's Chorus and an honorary mother on the Mothers Board.

After graduating from Attucks High School in 1949, she attended West Kentucky Vocational and Technical School in Paducah, Kentucky, earning her beautician's certificate in 1950. While an apprentice beautician in Springfield, Kentucky, she met her husband Warner (Dickie) B. Thompson, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1969. He, a career Air Force service member, Mother Thompson became a homemaker, living in Florida, New Mexico, Indiana, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and New Hampshire and finally returning to Kentucky in 1970. She enjoyed traveling, especially meeting people from different states and countries. Many gave her new ideas about her love for cooking and baking. Christmas cookies were one of her specialties. Her family could expect 9-10 different types of cookies every Christmas season.

Mother Thompson was also preceded in death by her older son, Warner B. Thompson, Jr., and daughter, Alfreda G. Thompson. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves to mourn one son, Mark (Priscilla) Thompson of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandsons, Shawn (April) Thompson of Los Angeles, California, Corey Thompson of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Ryan (Bonita) Dearbone of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Justin Thompson of Nashville, Tennessee, Kevin Thompson of Abu Dhabi- United Arab Emirates, Jason (Stephanie) Simpson of Nashville, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Romain Thompson of Brooklyn, New York; two sisters, Ms. Rowena Pendleton of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Mrs. Inez (Doc Christian) of Norfolk, Virginia; one brother, Mr. Otis M. Pendleton of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, two very dedicated companions/caregivers, Mrs. Katina Knight and Mrs. Danielle Bronaugh.
