With hearts full of bittersweet memory, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Cynthia Lee Beard, whose story began on a summer day in Logan County, Kentucky, on June 13, 1960. Her journey, marked by grace, laughter, resilience, and devotion, came to a gentle close on July 29, 2026, surrounded by love.

From her earliest days, Cynthia radiated a warmth that invited deep connection and lasting friendship. As a daughter to Gertrude Beard and Charles Johnson—both now gone before her—and as a loving sister to Gayle Dillion and Yvette Johnson, her life was rich in the bonds of kinship. Though she endured the loss of her sister Charlotte Johnson, Cynthia carried the love of her family with unyielding strength, keeping every cherished memory alive through stories and affection.

Cynthia’s joy reached new depths in becoming a mother. Her children, Pastor Marius (Christy) Beard, Shaquana (William) Darden, and Lias Beard, were the anchors of her world. The proudest moments of her life were spent in the company of her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, echoing with laughter and gentle wisdom, her pride shining in every smile she shared with them. For Cynthia, family was both foundation and horizon—a source of constant happiness, resilience, and celebration.

Her circle of support was broad and spirited: her uncle, Michael Elliott; cousins Charla Conrad, Tobeika Payton, and Charles C.J. Jackson; her sisters; and a host of nieces and nephews who all felt the embrace of her love. Cynthia’s home was always open, and her phone line never cool—her delight in conversation meant that no call was ever too late and no story ever too small to share.

Cynthia’s commitment to serving others was evident in every aspect of her life. She lent her capable hands and compassionate heart to Environmental Services at the local nursing home, working tirelessly to create clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for those in need. Her professional life was a natural extension of the kindness she extended within her family and community.

Outside her work, Cynthia found joy in life’s simplest treasures. She was an avid fisherwoman, finding calm and patience at the water’s edge. She loved to dance, her spirit rising with every melody, and she was known for tuning in to her scanner and keeping connected with the small and big moments of her world. Above all, she relished talking on the phone to her friends and relatives, keeping everyone close no matter the miles in between.

Faith played a foundational role in Cynthia’s journey. She served as a dedicated church mother, a committed member of the baptism team, and an Usher at her beloved St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Through her service, she embodied the teachings of compassion, hope, and unity, touching countless lives with her quiet leadership.

As we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing Cynthia is reunited with her beloved parents and sister in rest. The tapestry of her love stretches far beyond this moment, woven through every story she told, every hand she held, and every child and grandchild who carries forth her legacy.

The family invites all who loved Cynthia Lee Beard to join in honoring her remarkable life. Visitation will be held on August 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 103 Cs-3033, Guthrie, KY. A funeral service will follow at noon at the same location. Cynthia will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Russellville, Kentucky.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Cynthia’s light endures—in her children, her siblings, her grandchildren, and all whose lives were made richer by her love.
