Elizabeth Purcell
Kumaravelu
Sep 4, 1968 — Aug 14, 2026
Clarksville
Elizabeth Purcell Kumaravelu, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at the age of 57. Born on September 4, 1968, in St. George's, Grenada, Elizabeth led a remarkable life distinguished by dedication to her family, her profession, and the many communities she served.
Elizabeth began her journey in Grenada, and over the course of her life, achieved notable accomplishments both academically and professionally. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing, a foundation upon which she built a meaningful and impactful career in healthcare. Early in her profession, Elizabeth served as a midwife in Grenada, providing compassionate care to expectant mothers and supporting families during some of their most significant moments.
Relocating to the United States, Elizabeth continued to devote her skills and compassion as a Registered Nurse at Priority Primary Care LLC, and she further specialized as a lactation specialist — roles in which her patients benefited from her dedication, knowledge, and nurturing presence. Her commitment to caring for others extended into her work in several nursing homes, where she provided comfort, dignity, and essential medical care to those in need.
Beyond her contributions in the medical field, Elizabeth was a woman of many interests. She enjoyed knitting, a pastime that reflected her patient and attentive nature. Watching movies was one of her ways of relaxing, and, most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, both immediate and extended.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Mahesan Kumaravelu, Nanand Kumaravelu, Divya Kumaravelu, and Kelvin Greaves. She is also survived by her siblings: Steve Lewis, Kenneth (Darvon) Bartholomew, Carol (Junior John) Purcell, Francis (Sara) Purcell, Yvonne Purcell, Jemi (Heidi) Cato, Jeremy (Miesha) Cato, Jason (Melissa) Cato, and Jackie (Dr. Linton Andrews) Cato, and a host of nieces and nephews. Her beloved husband, Kumarasooriyar Kumaravelu, as well as her parents, Lloyd Purcell and Matilda Hagley Purcell, preceded her in death.
Elizabeth Kumaravelu will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to nursing, her profound care for her family, and her numerous acts of kindness throughout her life. Her legacy endures in the lives she touched—her family, her patients, and her colleagues—each one a testament to her compassion and strength.
