Erik Joseph Dewayne
Harris
Dec 3, 1975 — Jul 29, 2026
His sons were his constant pride and inspiration, and he nurtured in them the values of integrity, love, and perseverance that were hallmarks of his own character.
With heavy hearts and enduring love, we announce the passing of Erik Joseph Dewayne Harris, who departed this life on July 29, 2026, at the age of 50. Born on December 3, 1975, Erik’s journey was one marked by devotion, kindness, and a steadfast commitment to his loved ones, his faith, and his community.
Erik was the beloved son of Terry and Donna Puckett, whose unwavering guidance shaped the man he became. His proudest accomplishment was confessing Jesus at an early age, carrying faith at the center of his life and allowing it to guide his decisions, relationships, and actions.
Professionally, Erik found purpose as a groundskeeper with Colorado Springs, Colorado Parks and Recreation. Through this work, he cared for the spaces that brought joy and peace to many, reflecting his deep respect for nature and his community.
As a devoted father, Erik cherished every moment with his sons, Devin Joseph Dewayne Harris and Erik Joseph Dewayne Harris, Jr. His sons were his constant pride and inspiration, and he nurtured in them the values of integrity, love, and perseverance that were hallmarks of his own character.
Family was central to Erik, and he shared a special bond with his step-sisters, Danyelle (Stephon) Whitley and Tenisha Puckett, celebrating life’s joys and supporting one another through its challenges. The circle of his loved ones was his greatest treasure.
Beyond his professional life and family, Erik found fulfillment in the simple pleasures that brought him happiness—shooting hoops on the basketball court, listening to music, and spending time with his sons, whose laughter and companionship he cherished above all.
Erik’s warmth, sincerity, and generous spirit touched all who had the privilege to know him. He leaves an indelible mark and a legacy of kindness, strong faith, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Erik at the Gamble Funeral Home, 1311 S Liberty St., Hopkinsville, KY, for the visitation on August 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A burial service will be held at Corinth Baptist Church, 850 South Road, Cadiz, KY 42211, on the same day.
Erik Joseph Dewayne Harris’s memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he shared so freely in life.
