James Richard "Hip" Brown, 82, Hopkinsville, passed on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

James was the son of the late Richard Henry and Pauline Brown and was born July 14, 1941, in Christian Co.

James was a member of Durrett Avenue Baptist Church and was self-employed as a Backhoe Operator.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports and working.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Althera Brown; brother, David Brown and special cousin, Michael Harris.

Survivors include his children, Gladys (James) Jones, Kimberly (Verdell) Smith, Wendell Quarles, Jeffrey Quarles, Shaveida Williams, Michael Britt, Kenny Quarles, Corey Quarles, Tangela Johnson, Tracey Johnson, Nigel Brown , and Kalisata (Shemmon) Williams; siblings, Geraldine Harris, and Richard Brown; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren.
