Obituary

James Wesley Davie was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on March 31, 1951, to the late Mitchell L. Davie, Sr. and Katherine Davie. He was the sixth of thirteen children born to the union.

James accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He gave his life to Christ at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY. James matriculated through the Christian County Public School system. He graduated from Christian County High School in 1971. James earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education in 1976, from Kentucky State University, his beloved Alma mater, in Frankfort, KY. He pursued graduate classes at the Polytechnic Institute of New York in the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering. While at Kentucky State University, his first child, Angela Lynette Douglas-McIntyre, was born in 1973. James met the love of his life, Vicki Catlett Davie, in 1975. James and Vicki were united in holy matrimony on May 23,1986. To this union were born two children, James Wesley Davie, Jr. and Dr. Kayla Diann Davie.

James was employed by the New York City Department of Finance for 33 years. He served in several positions including Investigator and City Assessor I, II and III. He loved his job and formed lasting friendships with coworkers. He retired in 2013.

James was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved traveling, listening to music,spending winter months in his condo in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, returning to his family homestead in Hopkinsville, KY, regularly attending his college homecoming, and talking about his children, family, politics and stocks. He was known around his Brooklyn neighborhood for being friendly, lending out tools, keeping his cars looking good and always being willing to share his knowledge about construction, real estate, cars and life.

God called James home to be with Him in glory on the afternoon of October 28, 2023.

James leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Vicki C. Davie; three children, Angela (Tony) Douglas-McIntyre of Hazel Green, AL, James Davie, Jr. (Carisa) of Bronx, NY, and Dr. Kayla Davie of Brooklyn, NY; six grandchildren, Alexandria, Audrianna, Avaughndre, Anandi, Ayden, and Reverie; five great grandchildren, Alexis, Azavian, Adarius, Alaizha, and Aniyla; one goddaughter, Noelle L. Minter of Bronx, NY; three sisters,Flora (Mackie) Bradford of Detroit, MI, Patricia (Willie) Canty of Hopkinsville, KY, and Barbara Morgan of Fort Worth, TX; five brothers, Mitchell Davie II (Mikki) of Miami, FL, Walter Davie of Cincinnati, OH, Ricky Davie of Dumfries, VA, Ronald (Shema) Davie of Brooklyn, NY, and Kenneth (Roslyn) Davie of West Orange, NJ; in-laws, George Tigner of Lithia Springs, GA, Glenora Beckham of Atlanta, GA, Michael Catlett of Evansville, IN,Yvonne (Tony) Collins of Lithia Springs, GA, and Rev. Kelvin (Shanta) Catlett of Shelbyville, KY; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Lee Davie and Julia Tigner; two brothers, Marion Thomas and Charles Ray Davie; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Morgan,Sr. and Michael Beckham.
