James Nance, 76, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 in Jacksonville, FL.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 6, 1945, he was the son of the late Nancy Bell Smith and Johnny Nance.

James was employed with Phelps Dodge, he retired after thirty years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Wooden, Sr. and grandson, Ahmad Merritt.

He is survived by two daughters, Amanda Nance, Laverne Lenori, step-daughter, Jalaina Grubbs, sisters, Vivian Johnson, Virginia West, brothers, Howard Wooden, Sr, Claude Wooden, Albert Smith, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
