James Leslie Torian, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on August 9, 1941, James lived a life rich in dedication, compassion, and quiet strength.
James dedicated many years of his professional life as a maintenance worker at the Housing Authority of Hopkinsville. Through his work, he touched the lives of countless residents, always willing to lend a hand with a kind smile and the dependable spirit for which he became known.
Outside of work, James filled his days with the simple joys and passions that brought him peace. He cherished his time by the water, fishing, and found great comfort and inspiration in reading the Bible. Faith was a guiding force in his life, and his devotion was readily apparent to all who knew him. James was an active and devoted member of the Refuge of Hope in Christ Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and trustee. His steady leadership and spiritual guidance within the congregation remains a proud legacy and a source of strength for many.
James embraced fellowship and camaraderie, particularly as a member of the Mystic Knight Motorcycle Club, finding joy in the bonds of friendship formed on open roads and in shared miles. His love for going to church and engaging with his community reflected his generous nature and deep commitment to others.
Those closest to James mourn the loss of his gentle presence and celebrate the memories he leaves behind. He is survived by his loving son, James Kevin (Sharnette) Torian; his devoted brothers, Dean G. Torian and Luther (Joann) Torian; and his caring sister, Constella Jenkins. James also cherished the memory of his dear daughter, Kimberly Quarles, who preceded him in death, as well as his parents, Roberta Cleo Fergurson Torian and Fred D. Torian, Jr.
James’s life was a testament to steadfast faith, hard work, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His journey was not always easy, but he faced each day with resolve and kindness, inspiring all who knew him to live with similar grace. The warmth of his faith and the earnest care he gave to both loved ones and strangers alike will endure in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
