John Walton Meriwether, 73, died Friday, December 25, 2020 at Bradford Heights of  natural causes.

A native of Christian County, he was born March 7, 1947, the son of the late Charles and Rosa Mumford Meriwether.

John was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Youth Sunday School Teacher, a Youth Director, member of the Adult Choir, Male Chorus, Culinary Committee and Custodian.

John was a United States Army Veteran. He later retired after 30 years from Civil Service as an Electrician Supervisor with a Master Electrician License.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-Charles "Mann" Meriwether.

He is survived by his wife-Velma Meriwether, Hopkinsvillle, KY; daughter-Bernadine Meriwether, Ft. Worth, TX; sons-Jody W. Meriwether, Tuscon, AZ; Steven Moody and Patrick Moody, Hopkinsville, KY. Brothers-Thomas (Minnie) Meriwether, Rev. Randy (Barbara) Meriwether, Hopkinsville, KY; sisters-Willa Fay (Austin) Buckner, Lawton, OK; Patricia A. Jackson, Indianapolis, IN; eleven grandchildren, three great grandcdhildren..
