Madie Ruth Wharton Shemwell, 79, Hopkinsville, passed on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Madie was the daughter of the late Robert Wharton and Ophelia Sivils. She was born on July 28, 1944, in Cerulean, KY.

Madie was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church and worked at Wal-Mart in the Deli.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, picking greens and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Shemwell; son, Kendall Wilson and brother Charles Lee Wharton.

Survivors include her children, Eleanor Brewer, Cazander Stevens, Stacey (Tomekia) Wilson, Chantley (LeAndra) Wilson, Delressa Wilson, Walter (LaGina) Wilson, and Marcus (Ashley) Wilson; sister, Fannie Radford; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
