CHERISHED MEMORIES
Our beloved MarQuana DeWayne' McClure, a one-of-a-kind, priceless gift from God, was born May 18, 2015 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to the proud parents of Ebony Coats Rogers and Marcus Rogers.
MarQuana attended Greater Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tennessee. She loved learning about God and was excited to go to Sunday school and participate in the children's church services. Early in life, she was taught about God and WHOSE she was. A quick Christian self-esteem exercise was often done using the following words: "YOU ARE GOOD, KIND, SMART, CREATIVE, TALENTED, A GENIUS, A CHILD OF THE MOST-HIGH GOD, & VERY, VERY MUCH LOVED." When later questioned as to WHOSE CHILD she was, MarQuana would proudly and joyfully say, "I am a child of the LORD!" She was not only taught to know WHOSE she was but WHO she was.
MarQuana was always an eager and quick learner. At the age of three, she asked to go to school because she wanted to learn how to read. So last year she was able to "formally" enroll in Preschool and become a student at South Christian Preschool. Earlier this month she received her Preschool Certificate of Achievement document a major accomplishment!! If she were here today, she would say "WOW, AWESOME, THUMBS UP!"
In her leisure time this lively, outgoing child enjoyed talking, going to school, playing games, taking pictures, singing, riding her bike, playing kickball, collecting rocks and leaves, learning about dinosaurs, deep space, TV cartoons, YouTube Kids, blowing bubbles, playing dress up, bird watching with REAL BINOCULARS, water splashing, and picking flowers, just to name a few!
Family members that preceded MarQuana in passing away to the heavenly home were her paternal grandmother Fannie Lee McClure and maternal great-grandmother Mattie O'Hara Sivils Rippy fondly called "Gigi." She departed this earthly life and " earned her angel wings" on Friday May 29, 2020 at 5:28 pm as the result of a vehicular fatality.
Though her time with her family and friends was short, she touched many lives and was deeply loved by those around her. This "special child" will be greatly missed by all. Mourning, but celebrating MarQuana's life are her parents, Ebony and Marcus Rogers; her siblings Keilani Starnes, Clarksville TN, Berandous McClure, Clarksville TN, Kenterell Pardue, Clarksville TN, Fannina Taylor, Atlanta, GA, Marcus Taylor, Atlanta, GA, Jaquane Mallory, Florida; maternal grandmother Deborah Sivils, "Grammy," Oak Grove, KY; maternal grandfather Calvin Coats, Sr. "PaPa" (Chantale) Clarksville, TN; and paternal grandfather Alfred Rogers, Clarksville, TN; god parents Rita (Keith) Sims, Hopkinsville, KY; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
