His steadfast devotion to family, his proud military service, and his joyful appreciation of the outdoors will remain as enduring testaments to his life.

Michael Wayne Blane, born October 29, 1947 in Christian County, Kentucky, passed away on August 6, 2026. He leaves a legacy of integrity, service, and love for the outdoors, cherished deeply by his family and the community that knew him.

Michael’s journey began in the heart of Christian County, where the values of hard work, respect, and kinship were instilled in him from a young age. Guided by the example of his parents, Sallie Smith Blane and Harley Blane, Sr., Michael grew up surrounded by family, including his brother, Harley Blane, Jr., all of whom have preceded him in death.

Michael answered the call to serve his country with honor, dedicating time to both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Throughout his military service, he upheld principles of courage, duty, and commitment, carrying those ideals with him throughout every stage of his life.

Those who knew Michael will fondly remember his deep passion for the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply soaking in the company of family and friends beneath the open sky, Michael found great joy and contentment in nature’s embrace. These moments became treasured memories for all who shared them with him.

Michael’s memory lives on in the hearts of his loving children: Rodney (Constance) Blane, Ebony Harris-Thomas, and Eric Blane. He is further survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his stories and lessons, as well as nieces and nephews who admired and respected him.
