These were the rhythms of a life grounded in connection and comfort, and they created many of the moments his loved ones will carry forward.
Perry Como Cherry, born October 26, 1955, departed this life on October 2, 2026. He will be remembered as a man who worked with his hands, loved with his whole heart, and found joy in the simple, lasting gifts of family, fellowship, and time shared together.
Perry served his country in the U.S. Army, a chapter of his life that reflected commitment and duty. In his working years, he was self-employed in construction, building with skill and determination. He was also a member of New Beginnings Ministry, where his faith and fellowship formed part of the life he lived among others.
Those who knew Perry will remember the things that brought him happiness: fishing, barbecuing, spending time with his family, and watching movies. These were the rhythms of a life grounded in connection and comfort, and they created many of the moments his loved ones will carry forward.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Perry Redd, Tameka Redd, Tenqualis (Tiffany) Redd, and Latrisha Redd, together with their children, whose place in his life was deeply meaningful. He is also lovingly remembered by Jasbrine Miller, Brandon Watkins, James Wright, Amelia Clemons, Aliscia Watkins, and Annette Smith, the children he raised, each of whom shared in the care, guidance, and presence he gave so freely. His memory lives on as well in the life of Fanny Redd, mother of his children, in the cherished friendship of Jeanette Ware, his close friend, and in the bond of his brothers Frank Cherry, Moses Cherry, David Cherry, Stafford Cherry, and Pastor Anthony (Shirley) Cherry. May all who knew and loved him find comfort in the many memories he leaves behind and in the enduring mark of his life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Catlett; his father, Frank Cherry; and his sister, Janet Cherry Cash.
