Samuel Lewis was born June 17, 1934, in Louisa County Virginia to father (Jordan Shelton) and mother (Sarah Allen). He was reared by his (Grand Parents) Robert and Bessie Lewis and Ruth Johnson (Aunt/Sister). He worked at a sawmill with his family for a few years and later moved to Reading PA. Following this move he Enlisted in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He said "They were cream puffs" (No Offense Air Force), completing his Air Force enlistment. He enlisted in the United States Army and love every minute of it. He served for 21 years. His first duty station in the Army was Fort Campbell Ky, where he met Dorothy (Dot) Chambers she stopped him in his tracks. He said "She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen". They went on to marry and were married for Forty-Four Years. This union brought forth 5 children Patricia Lewis, Joyce Katchen (Tony), Debera Lewis (Kevin) Samuel Lewis (Patience), Rita Sims. After retiring from the Army, he became an entrepreneur. In his stent as an independent hard worker, he owned a car lot, grocery store, gas station, teen club, fish market, fish route, sold wood, laundry service, and summer adventures for kids. He also enjoyed playing games (cards especially), and he always played to win. Beyond this he loved to travel and loved his family even more. Samuel accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Rising Sun Baptist Church. He went on to become a deacon at Good Hope Baptist Church, St. Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and Allen Grove Church where he also taught Sunday School.
