Sarah Louise Jefferson Chambers, 72 passed away on January 22, at Western State Nursing Facility of natural causes.

A native of Christian County, she was born on March 13, 1949 the daughter of the late Joseph Jefferson, and Rosa Bell Watkins.  Sarah was the first and only one of her siblings to graduate from Historic Attucks High School and later Austin Peay St. Uni.  For many years she was employed with the Pennyrile Allied Community Services and CCPS Day Treatment.  Sarah was a lifetime member of Virginia Street Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Director of the Youth Department, the 50 Year Club member, and Home Bound Ministry.  Because of her love for young people she was a Big Sister for many years.  Sarah was a friend to many and never met a stranger.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday February 5, 2022, at Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. M.O. Fort officiating.  A walk-thru visitation will be Friday from 4-5 p.m. Mask are required.

In addition to her parents Sarah was proceeded in death by sisters Theresa King; Ester Jefferson; Gloria Watkins and nephew Joseph King Sr. Survivors include husband Joseph Chambers, siblings Kenneth Watkins Atlanta, GA; Valeria Watkins Berea, KY; Gwenda (Dennis) Motley Hopkinsville, KY; Angela Malone Tampa FL. She was the oldest and most favored aunt to our children and grandchildren, who will truly miss their "Aunt Sarah".
